SPMP

Automated Service Planning and Mass Provisioning

The SPMP (Service Planning and Mass Provisioning) System enables automated planning and provisioning of mass telecommunication services. The system supports requests from the upper (northbound) systems, such as provisioning, activating, replacing, querying, diagnostics, modifications, suspension and dismounting. The system automatically performs the planning of the services based on defined and stored parameters of the requests and the given service profiles, and delivers automated provisioning through its interfaces to the management systems. The upper systems will receive reply messages concerning the results of the planning and provision, while users can browse all available information through the user friendly graphical user interface.

Concept of the SPMP

The two basic concepts of service planning and provisioning by SPMP are automation and generality.

  • As a result of the fully automated processes, the SPMP system contributes greatly to radically decreasing the time between the order and the activation of a certain service, improves the accuracy of the data present in different systems and also significantly decreases the probability and possibility of misconfiguration in the management systems. In the case of already planned and implemented services the system greatly improves the efficiency of troubleshooting processes.

  • By creating generality throughout the system, the SPMP enables the planning and provisioning of different type of services to be made in the same environment. The northbound systems perform the service planning and provisioning through the same northbound interface and using the same messages. The users can access the requests already processed and the services managed by the system, by using a single graphical user interface. This framework style means that launching a new technology only requires implementation of a new module to the SPMP system, and framing it into the working management system if required. Meanwhile the northbound interface and the user interface remain unchanged.

Northbound interface

Within the SPMP system, every single planning and provisioning process begins with accepting a request message from the upper (northbound) systems, and ends with a reply message for the given request to them. The SPMP system has a unified interface to the upper systems.

Planning module

The SPMP system is a unified framework for the planning and provisioning of mass services. This framework style allows the northbound systems to connect through the same interface to the planning and provisioning system, regardless of the type of the given mass service. At the current stage of the implementation, the SPMP system has 3 sub modules:

XDSL sub module

This sub module allows the planning and provisioning of 3PLAY ADSL and SHDSL services. The module itself is interconnected to the ANMS element management system and the Alcatel HDM system for delivering provisioning.

NGN sub module

This sub module allows the planning and provisioning of NGN services. The module itself is interconnected with the Huawei iManager and the IN Management Systems for delivering provisioning.

VoIP sub module

This sub module allows the planning and provisioning of 3PLAY VoIP services. The module itself is interconnected with the Huawei IMS and the Alcatel HDM systems for delivering provisioning.

Provisioning module and its interconnections

For provisioning services, the SPMP system needs to access the management systems. The SPMP system can be connected to the following different management systems through the provisioning module:

The NETvisor ANMS System

The SPMP system connects to the ANMS system through its TCP interface. To communicate with the ANMS system, its open API is used.

The Huawei iManager system

The SPMP connects to the Huawei iManager system through its TL1 interface, and to the Huawei IN management system through its MML interface. To communicate with the iManager and IN systems, their standard, open API is used.

The Huawei IMS system

The SPMP connects to the Huawei IMS system, through its SOAP interface. To communicate with it, its open API is used.

The Alcatel HDM system

The SPMP connects to the Alcatel HDM system through its SOAP interface. To communicate with it, its standard, open API is used.

Connecting to alternate systems

By provisioning new type of services, the configuration of additional management systems not listed above can become necessary. Due to the modular architecture of the SPMP system, connecting a new management system can be solved through quick and low cost development.

The user interface

The SPMP system has a web based user interface. On this interface every earlier request and corresponding result can be traced and accessed.
